Gijinka Kirby Models release!

Well I've worked out all the kinks I can! So I'm releasing the gijinka Kirby models I've been working on for the past few months. Officially I will release them this weekend. But for the people who check my blog, well, you can have the download right now! Pretty cool right? Right? Oh who reads this anyways? But here is the link on the off-chance you do.

The password is: facebreaker

The file is password protected for now. The password will be removed this weekend when I release them on DA, Youtube, etc. So please don't spread the password, just link back here if people want it.

The pack includes

Kirby (+mic)
Waddle Dee
Ribbon
King Dedede (+hammer)
Adeline

Enjoy!

I hate skirt physics

Well, adding physics of any kind is pretty annoying. But the worst kind is physics you don't know how to fix.. everything's lined up, the constraints are correct, and yet things still get messed up. Again it's mostly a clipping issue... her legs consistently go through her skirt. =/

I'll most likely try and go back to fix it but I really don't know what else I can do. Thickening the physics boxes works when DDD had more prevalent clipping issues, but I tried that with the skirt and it just made it wig out more. Bleeeh... physics.

But here's the state she's in right now.

WIP, Adeliene

Made very good progress on Adeliene tonight. She now has an entire body, and hair, and ready to be rigged in PMDe!

This is actually my first time modeling anything with... hehe... breasts. I'm pretty happy with how she turned out.

Meanwhile, another video by yours truly. Experimenting with shader effects this time, and I got something really nice out of it, I think. Hope you enjoy.

New WIP, Adeliene

That's right, modeled Kirby, Dee, Ribbon, Dedede... seems right to put Adeliene in the mix too, right? Also excuse me if I continuously butcher her name... I seem to spell it differently all the time.

So here are her orthographic drawings... like most of them I end up drawing them during lectures. So, they're usually imperfect, but usable. I started modeling her early today, and so far, she has the head done. Minus eyebrows, but those are really easy to put on there. Head is the hardest part for me, so with that done, it's usually pretty quick from that point... excluding the hair. Hair and face are really hard because it's so easy to get them to look wrong. =/

Anyways, the face.

I think it's one of the better faces I've made... still needs some tweaking of course, but I'm glad I've gotten to this point.

Will work on her more this weekend, with any luck, she'll be ready to rig tomorrow or Sunday... or lacking the time, next weekend, which I'll have extra time on since it is Thanksgiving break. :D

I've been thinking what I'll do next. Once Adeliene nears a state of completion, I think the next model to work on is Waddle Doo. I would like to do one more gijinka Kirby model, but I'm not sure who else. I don't really want to make Meta Knight but he seems like the popular and obvious choice.

King Dedede, finished?

Well there is a lot that needs fixing, but I think I'm calling it done with Dedede for now. He was both fun and a very big pain to work on... >> I'll probably come back to him later if I plan to release him, but I'll move on now. I think I might make Adeline next, and Waddle Doo after her. That's exciting, right?

And of course, the celebratory video. This one turned out pretty well!

Dedede got quite a nice response. So I'm very happy, and I'm glad people like him.

Romeo and Cinderella

Well here I did something I didn't do everyday, I actually just made a Vocaloid video. It mostly ended up this way because I was making a camera motion for "Romeo and Cinderella" to fit the full version of the song, and one model. Well once I finished the motion I decided the model I was originally going to use didn't match anymore, but I still had this new camera motion. So I made a video to showcase and distribute it.

The camera motion can be found here: http://www.mediafire.com/?onn9jt7zy77eulj

Feel free to use it. This new download will be going up on the "MMD" page as well. Enjoy.

Happy physics time

Well made some progress for Dedede... so far he's easily been the most time-intensive model I've made. It's all those darn physics. I can't get his coat to look right. Here's a quick test, for progress sake.

There is physics in his jacket, as well as the sleeves, and his hair. There is a lot of clipping issues that I'm hoping to resolve. =/

And currently he has no expressions because I can't get the PMD exporter for Metasequoia to work still! Ugh! Dedede why are you being such a pain in the ass!!

King Dedede, gijinka model!

I started a model of my human King Dedede the other day. The model itself is now finished.

Haha, the orthos aren't very pretty. Obviously I had to make the jacket transparent to actually see what I needed to model beneath it... :P

His belt and jacket are both textured objects. I don't like texturing things much in Metasequoia, because the UV unwrap process isn't very intuitive, in my opinion.

So I tried making his expressions in Keynote. Working with expressions in Keynote is why easier in PMDe, I'll say that much. But the problem came when I was trying to export the model as a PMD. It simply does not work. I've installed two different PMD export plug-ins but I can never get it to work. =/

So I don't know when this model will be completely finished. Not only are the expressions not playing nice, but I am not looking forwards to rigging the jacket. OTL

"PONPONPON"

Well I finished up Dee, adding physics and editing some of the rigging. Well sadly enough there are more things I keep discovering I need to fix, and the same goes for Ribbon and Kirby. xD But in the meantime I put out a video with all three of them, and I really like it. It's very cute, very shiny.

Everything came together pretty well. I used quite a few effects to get it to look like this.

ToneMap
Diffusion
DOF
Kirakira

Most of the effects above, if not all can be found at the Beamman site.

I also made a cute little collage for the models. Some nice little images to showcase them.

Modeling "Waddle Dee"

Well you may or may not be aware that I've been making some original models in Metasequoia. I made Kei once but I didn't like that one. So for now I've been practicing on some other characters, which are human Kirby conterparts (or gijinka, I think the common term for it is). Anyway, for the past few weeks I've been working on a human Waddle Dee model in Metasqeuoia.

Well I finished the modeling and rigging in the last few days actually. :3 He has expressions but they need a lot of work, there's a lot of clipping going on that I wasn't aware of earlier... anyway, here are some views of the model in Metasequoia. I am really pleased how it turned out, he's really quite cute. :D

I rigged and added expressions in PMDe. I know there's a way to do it in Metasequoia using Keynote, which I have downloaded and installed, but I'm rather clueless on how to use it. xD

Anyway, here's a rendering in MMD.

He also has custom toon files which make him WAY better. I'm always surprised at what a difference they make. So here is his preview video as well. There are no physics yet, I was only going to add some to his hair.

Other Kirby models I have done are Kirby himself, and Ribbon (the fairy character from Kirby and the Crystal Shards, for N64). I'm debating releasing them. If interest is shown, I probably will. :3
